In April alone, the country served more than 980,000 international travellers, the highest so far this year. Vietnam’s tourism industry experienced a rise of 9.9% from the previous month and 9.7 times higher than the same period last year.

The Republic of Korea remained the biggest source of holidaymakers to Vietnam with one million visitors, followed by the US with 263,000 and China with 252,000 travellers.

The number of Chinese tourists to Vietnam in April stood at 112,000, up 61.5% from the previous month thanks to China’s resumption of group tours from March 15.

This year, Vietnam strives to welcome 110 million tourists, including 8 million foreigners, and earn around VND650 trillion ($27.7 billion) from the sector.

Since the beginning of this year, the VNAT, localities and businesses have rolled out a range of activities to promote tourism with potential partners and markets.

Notably, “A Tourist’s Guide to Love,” a Hollywood film shot in Vietnam, ranked third in the list of globally most-watched movies on Netflix. This heartfelt flick will hopefully inspire more travelers to explore Vietnam.

Netflix reported that for April 17-23, attracted 13.4 million viewing hours. The list encompasses 78 different countries worldwide, including countries and regions in Europe, Africa, Asia and Oceania.

Ben Thanh Market, the Temple of Literature, and Hoi An Ancient Town and other Vietnamese tourist hotspots are featured in the film.

The film not only promotes Vietnam’s beauty to international friends, but also lures international tourists to the Southeast Asian nation, the VNAT said.

The Government has recently agreed to propose to the National Assembly some new policies relating to the immigration, transit and residence of foreigners in Vietnam, including one on a visa extension to 90 days. The visa relaxation will be an invitation card to tourists, demonstrating the country’s warm welcome and support for international guests./.
