Captain Niwa Satoshi said the trip is part of activities being held to celebrate the 50th founding anniversary of diplomatic ties between both sides. The main purpose of the visit is to promote understanding and friendship among coast guard forces between Vietnam and Japan. The ship is 105.4m long, 14.6m wide, and has maximum height of 29m.
