Hanoi greets 3.6 million tourists from abroad in the first ten months

Hanoi is aiming to attract 24 million visitors in 2023, with four million of them being international tourists. With two months remaining in the year, the number of foreign arrivals has already reached 3.6 million. According to the Hanoi Department of Tourism, the total number of tourists visiting Hanoi in the first 10 months of 2023 has reached 20.7 million, a 34.3% increase compared to the same period in 2022. Among these visitors, there were 3.6 million international tourists, a 3.5-fold increase compared to the same period last year. The number of domestic travelers was 17.1 million, a 19.1% increase. The total revenue from tourism activities during this period was estimated at VND76.3 trillion ($3.1 billion), a 66.7% increase compared to last year. Utilizing Hand-Me-Downs: A Foreigner’s Initiative to Maintain Vietnam’s Cleanliness

An American expat who is well-known for his efforts in cleaning up Hanoi has been collecting second-hand items and selling them to raise funds for environmental protection activities since 2019. The project aims to raise awareness about the importance of fixing, recycling, and reusing old items instead of throwing them away. The shop is located in a three-floor house on Lac Long Quan Street in Tay Ho District, Hanoi, where young people have come up with projects to revitalize the city, reduce waste, and study the reuse of second-hand products to protect the environment. The small shop is filled with a wide range of items that are neatly arranged. “At the beginning, we had more foreign customers visiting the shop, but now we have more local customers,” said Tran Nguyen Ngoc, a part-time employee and teacher at the shop. Foreign dancers compete in Hanoi’s international open dancesport championships

The championships witnesses the participation of dancers from Vietnam and 12 countries and territories worldwide. They compete across four categories, including international open standard adult, international open Latin adult, open standard youth, and open Latin youth. A couple from the Czech Republic are among the first athletes to participate in the tournament. Dancers from the Republic of Korea put on a Latin performance at the competition. A performance put on by Vietnamese couple Hoang Duc Tuan and Do Phuong Uyen in the international open Latin adult category Dmitri Kolobov and Signe Busk of Denmark come first in the international open standard adult category.
