Three Potential Areas To Promote Vietnam – South Africa’s People-to-people Exchanges
Ambassador Vuyiswa Tulelo said, in the economic field, the two countries can strengthen cooperation in coal import and export. South Africa is rich in natural resources, with up to 50 billion tons of coal reserves, which is a potential source of supply for Vietnam to serve its development requirements and goals. In the field of education, through educational exchanges, students of the two countries not only share knowledge but also enhance mutual understanding. Vietnam and South Africa have many similarities in culture, therefore, heritage introduction activities benefit the promotion of bilateral relations.
According to the South African ambassador, the people-to-people relations between Vietnam and South Africa are positively developing. The South African community shows deep sentiment toward Vietnam, considering Vietnam as their second home. An increasing number of South Africans are coming to Vietnam to work and live, laying an important basis for promoting people-to-people exchanges between the two countries in the coming time.

Speaking at the meeting, VUFO President Nguyen Phuong Nga highly appreciated the traditional and friendly relationship between Vietnam and South Africa. Since establishing diplomatic relations in 1993, the two countries have achieved positive results in cooperation. The Vietnamese people have good sentiments for the people of South Africa and their solidarity spirit in the struggle for national liberation and development.
Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga introduced basic information about VUFO and its role and tasks in building and strengthening the friendship between the people of Vietnam and the world, particularly the Republic of South Africa.
The two sides agreed to cooperate to celebrate the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and South Africa, aiming to strengthen the friendship and cooperation between the two countries, especially in the field of people-to-people exchanges.
On this occasion, VUFO President Nguyen Phuong Nga congratulated Ambassador Vuyiswa Tulelo on starting her term as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Africa to Vietnam. President Nguyen Phuong Nga believes with her experience and enthusiasm, Ambassador Vuyiswa Tulelo will make positive contributions to Vietnam-South Africa relations, especially in the field of people-to-people diplomacy.
