The photo contest launched on August 29 is open to female photographers only. The judges select a total of 11 photos which are worthy of prizes from 2,819 entries by 274 photographers from across the country. A silver medal goes to Bach Thi To Anh of Ho Chi Minh City with a photo depicting women harvesting water lilies.

Apart from the 11 winning photos, the organisers choose an additional 56 pieces for the exhibition held at the Vietnam Women’s Museum. Female photographer Pham Thi Bich Thuy of Bac Ninh province is awarded a silver medal for submitting a photo about happiness of both mothers and children.

The event creates a playground specifically for professional and non-professional female photographers nationwide, helping them to exchange, gain experience, and introduce their works to the wider public. A photo taken by Do Quyen featuring a mother’s happiness is awarded a bronze medal.

The exhibition is scheduled to last through to October 25. A photo by Nguyen Thi Nha depicting Mong ethnic women in northern mountainous Lao Cai province bags a bronze medal.

A photo about chili salt drying wins a consolation prize.

Another photo featuring women at work is awarded a consolation prize.
